The Fall/Winter 2012 runways were absolutely covered in pieces featuring mesh inserts. For this week’s InspiredBuy, I’ve highlighted two of my favorite alternatives, both available at ASOS. The first and more pricey choice, the Markus Lupfer piece, incorporated a mesh V neck, mesh designs and bold blue accent, all of which were big runway trends this season. The second, a body conscious mesh insert dress fits the trend and is a more affordable option.

The days of owl-loving burlap sack hipster fashion are rapidly becoming a thing of the past; a new area of re-invention is upon us. The club kids are back and taking the internet by storm. These neon-haired teens and twenty-somethings are a goth hybrid adorned with neon accessories and an obsession with aliens and becoming inhuman. They’re harajuku girls on acid; a twisted homage to Michael Alig and the famewhoring glamour kids of the eighties. But these arent the “sleep all day party all night” drug fiend children reincarnate. These kids are moguls, marketing geniuses; they own their own companies and are taking control of their lives. This may be my first mention of this rebirth, but it definitely wont be my last; I’ve become obsessed with this new genre of thought and style.
For some great club kid inspiration, check out these tumblrs:
As the summer sun begins to lose its strength, I’m safe to discard the light colors and descend into the darkness with my fall fashion selections. However, in perpetually-sunny San Diego, crop tops and cut-offs are still perfectly sane winter wardrobe pieces. If you haven’t noticed, for me, it’s really all about a great pair of shoes. Right now I’m lusting: platform creepers, studded loafers, Pony Fur Litas and winklepickers. But as always, my true first love remains with Ann Demeulemeester’s Fall ’08 triple lace-up boots. My winterlust list also contains plenty of tank tops, sheer chiffons, thigh-highs, leather and the pants I hope to one day afford: Bonadrag‘s lace flares.
This collection has a definite rock ‘n’ roll gypsy vibe with a concentration on bringing things to the center with accessories like: belts, corsets and waist ties. It’s all in the details as the models were adorned with rockabilly up-do’s, piles of punky jewelry and faint tattoos reminiscent of blue pattern china.
