Trend: FlameOn

Maybe I’ve been reading too many 90’s grunge blogs or listening to too much Die Antwoord, but I think it’s safe to assume that there will be a revival of tacky, Harley Davidson-esque flame print in the immediate future.

Just take the brand spankin’ new Nasty Gal vintage lookbook, featuring the queen of 90’s grunge herself, Niki Takesh. Those nails? Killer!

Of course this trend has been popping up on the S/S runways of Jeremy Scott, PradaAlexander McQueen and I’m sure more. My most favorite is a bit of a flashback; from Daniel Palillo F/W 2010. I love the elegant structure combined with a usually tacky print.

However, as Jeffrey Campell‘s latest bomb, the Flame Litas prove, not all flame print works. My suggestion: moderation if you’re thinking about taking this print for a spin.

Until then… I had to.

Inspired Buy: Jeremy Scott

Jeremy Scott’s nostalgic 90’s collection has gone viral. While his pieces are incredible and fantastical, they’re neither attainable nor affordable. So I took to the internet  (Etsy) for some Scott-inspired alternatives:

Ok, who let Jeremy Scott drop acid with Lisa Frank? Also, thank you mister Scott, for bringing my 90’s club kid premonitions to life through your insane collections. I can’t get over this one. I’m so stoked to see my smiley face and rainbow pony folders turned into clothing. Also allow me to segue into the handmade Alien Earrings  I sell that go oh so perfectly along with this fashion.
